Already settled on HD LCD telly. What other things should I consider? I've got big, fat broadband connection. Would merrily get surround sound, entertainment dedicated PC, ....erm....other things. Any thunkles, experiences, recommendations?

One minor thing - I quite like mature technologies rather than the latest shiny thing. Hence LCD, not holding out for those organic thingies. Probably not yet ready to make the Blueray jump. I like good bang for my buck.
I just recently (OK, over the past year) upgraded my entire system throughout the house (old one went to the garage ).

I won a free HD DVD player from a local radio station, just before Blu-Ray was announced as THE format to have, and since I had already purchased some HD movies, I just added a blu-ray DVD player to the system.

One thing of note is that you need to make sure the receiver can handle as many HDMI inputs as necessary (one output to TV, as many inputs as you need - I needed three - one for HD Cable box, one for Blu-Ray, one for HD player). I ended up with a top-of-the-line Yamaha receiver in order to get all the inputs I needed. Cool thing about it is though that it also has inputs for my LP turntable (!) An unexpected, but appreciated, bonus. Seemed when I was looking that most of the receivers out there only had one (or more commonly, two) HDMI input(s) and one output. How stupid is that? I needed three, but again, my setup is a bit unusual because of the two DVD players. A few that had more HDMI slots also only supported the video part of the HDMI interface, so they required RCA cables for the audio. How stupid is THAT? So ask questions about the receiver and the HD signal cables that will be required. I got rid of a WHOLE lotta cables once I found the right receiver.

I also found that a self-powered bass speaker sounded better than a non-powered version, but I have no rational nor technical support for that assertion.

I have yet to program my remotes to work the other components. This is a friggin third-year after I got all the components hooked up together. Maybe I'll do that weekend after next, or one night next week when I am bored. Besides, now everyone in the house is used to the process of using three remotes to turn on simple television (cable box, receiver, television).
