line numbering in result set

Does anybody know how I can get a row count in the result of my query.
So first column should be 1, 2, 3 ....

Since you appear to be using Microsoft SQL Server, I'd take the suggestion from Kaiowas in your posting in that forum. You may get a lot of confusing answers here from people that don't know which database engine you are using.
