Delete blank column

hi! can anybody please help me..i have a table employee and it has 4 column namely id,lastname,firstname,salary and i want to delete all rows where firstname is equal to blank or ' ' NULL? thanks a bunch!

DELETE FROM employee
WHERE firstname IS NULL
OR firstname = ' ';
