I need to upgrade sql6.50.201 to 2000.
I am trying to install sp5a, but getting an error:
... installation was not successful... problem with cfgchar.exe. Check the relevant .OUT file.

I have:
- ensured that there is 10MB free in master
- checked sql log files and event viewer.
- checked that isqlw works with (local) and [ . ] connection
- sa password is blank
- default netlib is named pipes and path is correct.
- checked registry: sql path c:\mssql

Can anyone help me out with some ideas?
