Oracle 9 ODBC Timezone field support

Our company is looking to upgrade our Unix server to oracle 9. I have to access data via odbc into windows applications like Access and foxpro. My problem is that the SQL odbc returns an error on any database tables that have datetime stamps using the timezone field. I have found one way around it. You have to specify all the fields in the table and select the timestamp fields with a wrapper of TO_CHAR().

Does anyone know if oracle are planning to support the timezone fields through ODBC dirver?
