hors de cours: MvBase to wi-fi

I now probably log into my MvBase (v1.3?) once a quarter, tops; however, I am finding I would like to access it from a new laptop.
Seems I am still in COMx mode and would like to login via TCP/IP or IP address. Is there a simple way to do this (cheap?) In a pinch, I suppose I could use RealVNC, but would prefer a more standardised way.
