How do I determine a database type.

I have a database I am converting. The files have the extentions of .inf .inx .dat .dbf .rpt .

I have tried all releases of dbase foxpro and paradox to no avail. Is there a tool available to tell me what type of database created the files?

This Page shows a dictionary of File Types, which looks comprehensive but doesn't include .INX :-
