Exclamation cognos powerplay on sql server

I designed a relational database in sql server and i need to use cognos powerplay on it. The thing is that the administrator of the tool who i'm working with says that relational databases can not be used, only databases with hierarchy are usefull to desing a cube. I think that realtional database are new technology and a tool like cognos powerplay should be designed for both databases types.
The client who i'm working for is tired of the lack of flexibility that hierarchys force, because it makes you go to lower levels all the time in things that you need to see at the same level, so that's why i designed the relational database but i can't use it yet.
Is cognos powerplay usefull on relational databases??

Thanks

baccon

Re: cognos powerplay on sql server

Hi Baccon,

Really, Cognos tools have been created, originally, to access databases that was build with bi statments. Why about it? Well, because the access performance is very fast than relational database, of course.
But, isn't impossible to use, cognos tools, with relational databases. But you have to know that the access, at relational database, is very slow than other databases created specifically to bi solutions, impacting in creating and generating cube process.
I hope help you.

Regards,
