help needed configuring oracle

hello,
I'm a beginner in db & oracle. I have installed oracle 8i personnel edition on a machine with win98se. The problem is that I want to access it from a win2k machine having vb (both are in same network). Please help me (i know this isn't that hard). Thx in advance..

1st make sure you have connectivity to the database machine ... ex: if using tcpip, ping the server ...

2nd. Set up sqlnet referencing the database. net8 configuration assistant.
use tnsping to ensure you have sqlnet connectivity.
