IndexType ?

Hi,

I can't understand the concept of INDEXTYPE ? Please explain it clearly with some examples ?

CREATE INDEX index1 ON test_table(col1) INDEXTYPE IS CTXSYS.CONTEXT

What does the above statement infer ? ( Regarding INDEXTYPE ...)

Thanks,
Sam

This specifies that the index is not a "normal" Oracle index but is a "domain" index, the workings of which are defined by a "data cartridge" probably supplied by Oracle (like Oracle Text) or a third party.
