696 Error - Trace 5304

We have a SQL query that results in error 696.
Sybase has advised us to use Trace falg T 5304 to prevent this from happening.

Has anyone enabled 5304 in thier shops ? I am checking to see any implications of enabling 5304 Trace.

Any info would help.
