Corrupt data device

Hi,
We got a few databases marked as suspect because of a device error. Following is from the error log:

Msg 840, Level 17, State 1:
Device 'dev_data_device'(with physical name 'D:\data\dev_data_device.dat', and virtual device number 9) has not been correctly activated at startup time.
Please contact a user with System Administrator (SA) role.

Can anyone advice if there is anything that be done other that dropping the device and rebuilding all the databases on this device?

TIA

Ice

You could attempt a salvage operation. However, the steps are beyond the scope that can be discussed and done via online forums.

I just contacting Sybase tech support, to guide you through the salvage operation. Depending on the extent of corruption, salvage may have some data loss.
