Informix Syntax & the 'Compute' statement

All,

I am new to informix and was wondering if there was a definitive guide to syntax and how it compares to that of MS SQL Server syntax.

Secondly, is there any informix statement that performs the same function as the 'Compute' statement (in SQL Server).
