HI MY NAME IS: brian

Hi All,

I just registered and I wanted to say hello to anyone reading this.

(Sorry for the brief, but obligatory "about me") I have about several years (~5yrs) experience with DB backup and recovery (primarily with DB2, SQL Server, Lotus Domino, and some with Exchange & Oracle), but little experience with DB administration or design. But, I'm starting the process to change that by self-teaching and by signing up here to learn from the real world experience here.

In case anyone is actually reading this...
  • Do you have any suggestions on good books (whether it be on theory, administration or design) that you recommend starting with?
  • Are there any specific posts for beginners that you recommend?

I'm looking forward to learning from you (and eventually, teaching someone like me in the future),
--Brian
