Post Activate Oracle 8i Standby Database

Hi,

I'm trying to write a DR procedure for my company. We have an Oracle 8i primary database with a Standby database in manual recovery mode (not managed standby).

Assuming the primary database has crashed (data unrecoverable), are there any other steps I have to perform to activate the standby database except to issue the statement "Alter database activate standby database". Do I have to change anything on the standby controlfile or the standby initsid.ora?

How would the standby controlfile change from "standby" mode to "current".?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
kingsly
