Lightbulb Question re: Sql Server 2005/Visual Studio 2005

Hello everyone,

I am new to dbforums and look forward to getting and giving helpful information. With that said, my first question is..

Is SQL server 05 mainly for creating and maintaining a dababase or can it also be used alone to develope a web application as well?

I'm thinking that I would need to use SQL server to create the database and something like visual studio 05 to create the web app.

SQL Server has tools for the database, reporting, import/export, and some phenominally powerful analysis tools. Visual Studio has tools for creating GUI components, web pages, or applications. The two work hand-in-hand, but they don't intrude much into each other's space!
