To Validate a String in a Stored Procedure -- Urgent ****

I need to validate a string ( If it contains some of the spl characters, then i need to delete the String ).

1) Logic is to get the each character and then validate

2) For validating a Character , i thought of putting all the ASCII values of Alphabets (Upper & Lower ), Numbers & Spl character in to an array and then do the validation ....

But as Arrays are not there in Sybase, Im out of Ideas

Could you please suggest How to Validate the Character??? ... Pls suggest any other logiv if you know ....

Pls type in the Code ....

I really Appreciate your help ... Pls help me out .....It is Urgent ...
