creating auto-increment field

Hi there,

Can anyone help me to create a field that would contain ddmmyynn where nn is auto-increment and would return to 0 at the start of the day. I would like to monitor the number of records that we have entered using this field since the sequence field although auto-increment canot be reverted back to 0. I'm using Sybase 5.x. Thanks in advance

Lightbulb with a Trigger and a SP

I presume that you know how to get yymmdd. For the nn, create a little stored procedure that retrieves you the count(*) of all the entries of the actual date, addin one (for the actual entry).
To update the column, use a trigger.
