Red face Oracle 9i on Mandrake 8.2 prosuite


Here we go again.... the last time i haved to install oracle 9i over redhat 7.2...
Now my "loved" boss ordered to instal mandrake 8.2...
and oracle 9i....

THE DATA

-PIII !Ghz procesor
-512 Mb Ram
-522 Mb Swap
-30 Gb Hd

THE QUESTIONS

-how to determine the version of the implicated packages (Kernel... duh!, gcc compiler, glib, bin utils, etc)?
- Need some patches, where can fid it?
-Exist a step by step guide to do this?
-Exist scripts for automate the preinstall tasks?

Ok.

Patches for mandrake 8.2 - Here

Instructions are also there.

To find the version of any rpm package:
$rpm -q <package>

i.e

# rpm -q gcc
gcc-2.95.2-12mdk

Kernel version:

#uname -a
