We currently have OpenIngres 1.2 running on a Solaris 2.5.1 box.

We need to upgrade that Solaris server as it will no longer be supported by Sun soon. We would like to upgrade it to a newer version of the Solaris Operating system.

I have heard that OpenIngres 1.2 will not run on newer version of Solaris.

Is there a newer version of OpenIngres that would not be too much trouble to migrate over to, that would run on a newer version of Solaris?

If not, any alternative DBMS software that anyone could recommend that could be easy to migrate to?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Have you looked at Ingres II?

Ingres II is the current software version, which is in fact a re-packaging of OpenIngres 2.0. Migration should be fairly straightforward, worst case is a unload/reload of your databases. I did a migration from 6.4 to Ingres II between different platforms and it went trouble-free.
