Hi, well im a mysql fan.. but im not sure if it will be able to support my site in 3 months etc...

However, the news betas are allowing Row Level locking.. this ought to speed up mysql and highten its overall performance.

Any one tried it unnder pressure... care to tell us how you found it ?

Cheers,

Cool. I thought the row level locking was going to be a paid option developed and distributed by Nusphere.

I can't keep up with all these MySQL updates. they seem to be updating every couple of weeks.

I had a play with the Innodb tables. I converted the vB tables. I came across two major problems. One was the 8k limit for a field. This meant that the post table couldn't be converted (one of the main tables that would have benefited  ) and two was with the search function. The word and searchindex tables were converted but when a search was done on a common phrase, the query failed. I think it had something to do with the number of items in the 'where' or 'in' clause. So I gave up and I'm sticking with MyISAM :)

By the way... I've changed the star ranks. it's now easier to get promoted. There are 10 levels and the post requirements are: 5,10,25,50,100,200,300,500,750.... and something special for 1000 posts :D
