While installing oracle 8.1.6 enterprise edition on windows 2000 professional ,i got this below error
ORA 12638 CREDENTIAL RETRIVAL FAILED

I logged on windows 2000 professional with administration account.I was wondering
Can any one help me how to solve.

Do you have a different version of Oracle already installed.
if so the shutdoun the existing Database and the try to install this
on a different Oracle Home.

If it is a fresh installation, the Just remove any copies of sqlnet.ora
and tnsnames.ora and then try to install it again.

Also check the previlages for your administrator Login in Windows 2000

You mean the local Administrator account, right? Not the domain Administrator. Make sure you are loged locally as Administrator or local user with Administrator or ORA_DBA group.

If so, you shouldn't have any problems. Can you describe the exact steps you have made? Not so clear from your post..
