Low paformance on WIN98

I have 2 oparating systems on the same computer - win98 and win XP, and MySql data are on the same folder.

But my select statments are running 10 times slower on win98 then on win XP?

Should I make any special configuratins to MySql on WIN98 to make them run more quikly?
