Too Many Parameters

MySQL was working fine until today. I hadn't used it for a month or so but now, I try to restart the MySQL Daemon and I get this error:

030331 12:32:27 mysqld started
/usr/local/mysql/mysql-3.23.55-max/bin/mysqld: Too many parameters /usr/local/mysql/mysql-3.23.55-max/bin/mysqld Ver 3.23.55-max for pc-linux on i686 Use '--help' or '--no-defaults --help' for a list of available options 030331 12:32:27 mysqld ended

Anyone know how to resolve this and why it began to happen out of the blue? Thanks, Jeremy
