Question Standby Database, Oracle 817

I have been looking up alot regarding Oracle Standby Database. I would like to have the Databases set up so that the Managed potentially would work even though I will be using 3rd Party tools for the recover. I cannot find any definitive answer as to whether I can use the same SID for both Systems and still use Managed recovery, I am using separate Hardware. Manual Recovery already works. Should I install a new SID on the Server and 'move' the Database retaining the same file names?
Is it also a good idea to configure Net8 Failover?
