how to find out if the Oracle is a 64 or 32-bit installation

Hi,

I have a customer who has a 64-bit enabled Solaris 8 machine with an Oracle installed on it.

Is there a simple and quick way to find if the installed Oracle is 64 or 32-bit installation. Something like a v$ table.

Thanks,

Tal (otal@mercury.co.il).

Hi Cranes,
I get the following information, which doesnt tell me much about the stuff about Oracle on my machine.

Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.1 - Production
PL/SQL Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
CORE 8.1.7.0.0 Production
TNS for Linux: Version 8.1.7.0.0 - Development
NLSRTL Version 3.4.1.0.0 - Production

I would appreciate your response.

For Oracle RDBMS do this:

$ cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
$ file oracle
oracle: ELF 32-bit MSB executable SPARC Version 1, dynamically linked, not stripped

Thus, this is a 32bit version.It would clearly show whether this is a 32 or 64 bit oracle.

For Solaris OS - see this information Here

Hope that helps,
