Red face sybase Conectivity using c on Mac OS X

I have to connect to a Sybase server. I have got the libraries and .dylib files from the /Applications/Sybase/System/OCS_12.5/include and /Applications/Sybase/System/OCS_12.5/devlib.
It contains the header files and dylib files for the necessary code to connect to a sybase db.
But when i tried to connect using those header files, it is saying that it is unable to load those dylibs.
How to load those dylibs.( I p[laced those dylibs in the /usr/lib, but in vain).
If this is not the way , how to get the connectivity for sybase db from c code.
