OraOLEDB Provider Problem

I am submitting the following SQL to an Oracle 9.2 DB from an ASP page.

Code:

SELECT amount + ( select vat from tax_info where rate = 1 ) as total
FROM product_details
WHERE code = 220

The error message that is returned is

Code:

ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis : OraOLEDB

However, when the same code is run in directly against the DB from SQL Plus the SQL executes fine. I am assuming that the problem is with the Provider. Can anyone provide any insight into how to fix the problem.
