windows quick help

have a computer question for you. On my daughter's home computer, my wife uninstalled XP (b/c of so many viruses), & reinstalled Windows 98. When we re-load Symantec 2005, then double click on it, nothing happens. Is this something you can only load once and its a done deal? I hate to spend another $50 just b/c we changed the computer config.
