what's worse, all the old broken posts are still gone

jeez, you'd think they'd fix that while the site was down for "maintenance"

you know what guys? i think it's time we picked up and went somewhere else

i'm active in several other forums, let me know if you're interested and i'll tell you where the rteally good ones are

If they need help to admin this shit, why don't they ask?

My guess is the outsorcing thing.

ALSO, don't they think that this reflects porrly on them.

Oh sure, I'll contract out their services.

The reason I have stayed around has been the availability of Oracle and Sybase people, as well as MSSQL. Got any place that serves up questions on all three? I'm too lazy to find a forum for each ;-).

yes

i'm pretty active at tek-tips.com and they have an excellent sql server forum (i'm in it) as well as the following oracle forums:

Oracle: Oracle release - 5, 6, and 7
Oracle: Oracle release - 8 and 8i
Oracle: Oracle release - 9i
Oracle: Oracle release 10g
Oracle certification and testing
Oracle: Oracle9iAS Application Server
Oracle: Web App Server
Oracle: Enterprise Developer Suite
Oracle: Designer
Oracle: Developer
Oracle ERP Solutions
Oracle: JDeveloper
Oracle: WebDB
Oracle: Reports

so that should satisfy your oracle hunger

tek-tips also has an ANSI SQL forum which i love

the other forum sites i can recommend are sitepoint but they have only a generic databases forum with a single subforum for mysql, and devshed who have both oracle and ms sql server forums but the traffic is a fair bit lighter

but this place here, i dunno, i don't think i can hang around here any more, the owners just don't seem to care about us at all

The site buggering part. Even before this latest fiasco, when looking up "stuff" on the I-net, I would take a link to dbForums from my search results, thinking "cool, I'll get good info there" only to find mere miliseconds later that...*sigh*

...the thread is gone, gone, gone.
I dont know if I'm happy
I don't know if I'm sad
She's gone gone gone
I dont know if i'll cry
I dont know if I'll die laughin...

well then, i recommend heartily that you join me on one of those other three forums

i can report from first hand experience that in each of them, there are actual people whom you can actually get in touch with who will listen to complaints and suggestions, and who don't take their site down for an entire weekend and bring it up with all the old posts still missing

these folks here have never said a word to us, they don't reply to emails, they don't answer posts in the suggestions and feedbakc forum...

... they are basically just totally clueless

and i don't mind saying so because i know they aren't listening

if we (the more committed members, who visit daily and answer question after question after question for free) leave, and this site goes downhill, they fully deserve it

Forget this shit shack. It was entertaining for a while. I too would like to break into song about this but I am stuck between Nashville Pussy's version of Here's to Your Destruction and the Hank William Sr version I am so Lonesome I Could Cry.

Where is everyone going to go? Let's see how much ad revenue they get when they ZERO usage statistics because everyone worth a crap gave up.

well, i've already mentioned three other forums that i'm active in, but i suppose for the serious SQL Server DBAs here (which are the majority of the "good guys" i've gotten to know here) you might want to consider both of these:

sqlteams (brett's hangout)

tek-tips (another good sql server forum)
