Saw the news article, but it didn't list the site name. Thanks for posting it.

I've been waiting for Google to release something like this. Anything they do always comes out good.

Nope
Google, like Microsoft before it, and other press / media organisations like News Corporation (Fox in the US) has agreed to alter its content for broadcast / reception in China.

Essentially if you want to do buisness in China then you have to reproduce content that toes the party line or you don't get into China. That means nothing critical of the administration, nothing that the administration might interpret as subversive.

Subversive is such a wonderfully open term - it can include a bunch of geriatrics doing a form of exercise called something like 'falun gong'. They probably have a point - it is the provisional wing of the OAP (old age pensioners)

Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Cisco were all hauled up for Congressional testimony about two weeks ago regarding their unsavory collusion with the Chinese Government.

What is particularly distressing about Google is its corporate motto: "Don't be evil", and the fact that it built a lot of customer loyalty off of its anti-corporate image.

But yeah, it was Yahoo that helped the Chinese Government send a few people to prison for 10 years. How those executives can sleep at night, I don't know.

I'm looking for another search engine these days. Any suggestions?

I bet they manage perfectly well.

I'm not sure about search engines - perhaps you could google one?
