Respect vs. Payment

I have worked as a personal assistant (secretary) for business owners since I got out of college. At my old job I was respected and my boss cared about me as a person and would ask questions like "How's the family?" and "How are you today?" Just simple questions that made you feel important. Well my old boss deceded to sell the company and well you know how it goes, the new guy did spring cleaning and I was ousted. I found a new job that payed better, but I didn't even get a "Welcome Aboard" from my new boss. I know that he is not obligated to give me anything except pay me for my work, but it would be nice to know that I am at least respected. All this being said, Is it better to be Respected or Well Paid?

If you are not being paid what you are worth, are you being respected?

That's a good thought. I am payed more than what I used to make, but it would be nice to have a little bit of conversation. I know he's busy and all but a simple hello is not hard. Maybe I'm being to judgmental.

Blindman's rule of Employment: Everyone is underpaid for the job for which they were hired, and overpaid for the job which they actually do.

Shoot. I had that on a post-it note somewhere. Can you email me what's important again?
