Opinion on Database Table Archiving

I am trying to get an opinion on individual database archiving/restore applications from experienced DBAs.

Do you ever consider it for reducing the size of large tables to improve performance and if not, why don't you?

Thanks, Tom

Sure. It all depends upon the business requirements for the application, though.
