My first thought was that it had something to do with Hugh, and that would put you in ranks of a really great Dad.

Pat, MCrowly,
I have taken possession of grandmas coin collection and I am going back over my spreadsheet one more time and then I am going to make my 2 appraisal appointments. Did you guys want to see the inventory? My favs are the 1986 american eagle proofs and the uncirculated carson city (or morgan) silver dollars from the 1880s.
Usually in my experience when there is this much hard currency in a room there are weapons and unsavory individuals. Do I need to bring these to the numismatics? I do have some linebacker sized close friends.
In other news, I might be starting a DJ project with 1 or other unemployed audiophiles this week. Between us, we know enough people to spin records in public once or twice a week. I might never go back to an office.

I found there are several Trivia Jockey gigs in this area. Maybe down that way, too. the games go a tad slow for my tastes, and they lean on celebrity trivia a bit more than I do, but that could be a decent gig, as well. As for the coins, I am not a collector, so I am afraid you are on your own from my standpoint.

If I needed that kind of support to present a collection, I wouldn't present it. Don't deal with people you have that kind of questions about their character.
If the coins are in cases or coin envelopes then I'd give serious thought to numbering the envelopes with indelible ink. Never, EVER make a mark on the coins themselves. A good inventory, with photographs or even better video showing the coins, packaging, and numbering is a great idea before you submit the collection for their appraisal.

Oh, he'd have enjoyed it. All the big names in Origami were there! David Brill. Robert Lang. I even got to spend two hours with John Montrol folding his Origami Chessboard.
Non-stop thrills!

Just think of the impression you could make in South America with some flashy folding skills! You could be considered a god in some areas....

South America has a strong tradition in Origami. Many Japanese settled there after the war, and the practice took off, much like Japanese Jiu Jitsu transformed into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

I heard that being ruled by a military dictatorship is also a strong S.A. tradition (albeit most of them were put into place by the US)

It is a lot like being married, so the South American men hardly notice.
