Apparent Webroot Spysweeper security failure

It appears that there is a serious security failure in the installation application of the latest release of the Webroot Spy Sweeper and Anti-Virus package. It can't install without having Internet connectivity and removing every old version of the product. This leaves your machine completely open during the installation process.

I've tried to reach the Webroot tech support folks to report this problem, but their telephone system is terribly overloaded and has hung up on me twice after 20 plus minute waits before I ever reached a breathing body.

I really like the Webroot product, and I normally recommend it highly. Use great care, and I'd recommend either waiting until Webroot can correct this problem or taking a "belt and suspenders" approach and installing a secondary malware/antivirus product before doing this particular update.
