i lurk but I am not online all day anymore. just not much to say. fall is settling in and it has been cold, wet and dark for days.

despite my lack of job hunting effort, I have a 3rd round interview tomorrow with a decent software shop and I am pretty sure if I do not show up with whiskey on my breath or get belligerent tomorrow, I will have a job offer this week. I feel like I am coping out or settling though.

I am probably going to the John Stewart\Stephen Colbert rallies on the mall on 30th since I can walk there if I want to. I haven't seen their shows since I canceled my cable tv though.

I am wrapping up what is probably my last 10 nights of my hiatus by seeing 3 or 4 metal shows.

It was a good day of football yesterday. The redskins and the ravens beat their Pennsylvanian rivals in away games.

ho hum. nothing new under the sun.

What a dismally depressing commentary on the rest of us.

Somebody start a political flame-war or something.

Boobies.

Whaddaya think of the new New Labour leader then, Ed Milliband? Are you concerned that he is beholden to the unions or is it time for a prominent left leaning politician in British politics?

DISCUSS.

personally I think the left in the western world needs to re-embrace its labor movement roots. The swing to the radical right that is about to happen this fall in this country is a little frightening. I hear politicians talking about repealing the federal minimum wage and I see the proponents of hatred and the enemies of the open society gathering their forces and being funded by the wealthy wall street oligarchs and they are preparing for battle.

There was a great moment on This Week with Christine Amanpour this week where the Christian fundamentalist preacher and radical Muslim cleric were agreeing with each other and someone said they should go get coffee. The Christian right = American version of the Taliban.

The wealthy having destroyed large parts of the American middle class through so-called free trade and the laissez-faire economic policies of Clinton-Bush junta are now looking to reverse the gains of the last hundred years by using the faux economic populism of the tea party. If they had their way, there would be no child labor laws, no paid holidays, no health insurance and no retirement. The labor movement in this country is dying and the wealthy are preparing for the last battle of the class war. Is it any coincidence that all of the productivity gains of the last 2 decades have gone into the pockets of the executives and shareholders while worker's wage stagnate and even fall in terms of inflation adjusted numbers? I say no.

If I do not get this job today, I am going to shadow Christine O'Donnell in a rat costume with a large head.

No no. I meant real politics. American stuff. Tea Party, etc.

Certainly any differences are more quantitative than qualitative.
