Check this out! Report: Queen made bid for poverty grant - TODAY People - The Royals - TODAYshow.com . Can any of you guys across the pond tell me why in the world do you still have monarchy!!?

Here is my favorite: "The Queen already gets 38.2 million pounds a year from the government, which includes 7.9 million pounds to cover staff salaries and her personal spending" .. WTF!!?

Because we didn't behead them all and flog off their furniture in some misguided fit of pique like those bally Frenchies?
I am broadly in favour of the monarchy. What I would very happily abolish are any and every state benefit afforded to the minor royals.

the English love their royals so much, that when they ran out of protestant ones, they imported new ones from Germany. Now that you are all euros, you would think that they would return to using their real last names of Hanover.

BTW, I wasted a free streaming amazon movie promo on that new russell crowe robin hood rubbish. I want my 2 hours and 37 minutes back now please.

We British have a super wheeze - we are European when it suits us and British when it doesn't. This is simply wonderful for no other reason than it infuriates the French.

As if that is hard to do. I hope you have more to be proud of than that.

I never said it was something that we are proud of nor that it is difficult. Nor is it is all we do, simply that it is one of our favourites.

I have also opened up a second front in Geneva and am personally infuriating more french per day than any governmental policy could ever hope to achieve.

Or to paraphrase, since it's so easy to do, one should not pass up any opportunity.

You guys need to actively DO something to infuriate the French? My continued existance seems to be all that is required to infuriate some of them.

To really piss them off, all that is required is that you wear a blanket over your head.

We need a facebook style LIKE button.
I would have clicked it for Kitaman and Mike's comments even though I didn't directly respond to them.

perhaps I should just edit posts I like, and add a small token of my appreciation, like dis:
