Its good to see that you're back too!
Uff-da, English puzzles at the end of the world. Arthur Dent would appreciate that in so many ways!

I can confirm this as I am apparently in software development purgatory.

I'm confused... I thought that software development WAS purgatory.

It's home. Speaking of AD's, why is it they think it's possible to sneak one past me and redirect code to point at production data? I had to slap an IT directors hand for doing that today. If they need a refresh then just ask instead of trying to use production for test purposes. On a lighter note, I was working on one worst query of the 4500 from one of 15 production instances today. The query took 8 mins to run before my modification and now it takes 10 ms. One down, 4499 to go. Oh and my new hire DBA finally starts Monday. I put together a brief planning doc for 2013 and have 48k hours of work between us.

Unlikely, since I have to fix non-database programmers bad code. At this rate I'll have 1/15+ production servers working fine by the time my ssn kicks in.

is the world over yet? my fakebook invite for the mayan thing says midnight tonight.
happy festivus database dudes.
the rest is just moving in with the GF, getting a new house, still quitting work at the end of the year, writing a couple Android apps, and just spinning and spinning through life with little rhyme or reason.
I might be done with corporate America. I got thrown under the bus in front of the Veeps by an acting manager that was telling a lie yesterday. I dug up my documentation and had the same veep come down on him. Now my developers and customers all crying and begging me to stay, and at the same time all of the software development directors and managers are not talking to me. I do not know what it is. Maybe the PTSD from going to public school on the edge of section 8 neighborhoods, but when I get slapped, I respond with a Howitzer.

That's the only way some managers learn, though. Happy solstice.

Holiday season, moving to a new house, moving in with the GF and leaving a job all at the same time could lead to an insurmountable amount of stress. Take it easy and try not to let one area spill into the other (easier said then done). But it looks like you are handling everything well (hats off to you, dude).
Happy holidays everyone!

which group? was it edwin guerrero? this guy posted links to the preview in another sql server linkedin group five times over a couple of years, each time to a very dodgy website that asks for all kinds of personal information before letting you download it, and each time, i replied with a better link, right to the publisher's website (sitepoint.com), where you can get it anonymously... the last time he did it, i flat out called him an idiot
