I am having a problem with me typing in one website and it goes to another. For example, I try to go to Hotmail.com and it goes to some porn site. Or I go to my MBNA Bank website and it redirects me to the Bank of America. At the bottom on the progress it will have "sexyque.com/cgi-bin/[something here]/hotmail.com?". Sometimes it will take me to Hotmail, other times it will redirect it. How can I get this to stop?

It was taking me to the sexyque.com website if a page didn't exist, but I was able stop that.

Virus or some sort of program you might have installed?

Sounds like a rogue popup running in the background. You can download free popup stopper software.

What is your home page? Maybe something there is triggering the activity when you first go online....

i had the same problem, well similar! to do with sexyque in my address bar.
i tried loads of things (including: ad-aware, shutting down all unneccessary startup programs, deleting internet files......)
i downloaded ie explorer again and it stopped.
but i reckon it is still in my computer somewhere.
anyone else have this?

first of all, close all SHARING MUSIC programs, then close ALL FREEWARE (lot of free tools do that). It can be even worse. Some free sharing music software install special "frendly software" like GATOR. It's not so easy to get rid of it. Go to Start-Programs-StartUP and look if it runs it over there.

Then check registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/microsoft/windows/currentversion RUN and RUNONCE

I found this page the most in my search for an answer so I would like to put my solution here for everyone to see.


sexyque.com has changed (or created) a variable in the registry called DefaultPrefix to sexyque.com...etc. It may have also changed the
Prefix www to the same thing.

These can be found easily by using edit:find and entering either sexyque or the folder name (DefaultPrefix and Prefix)

The solution is to use Registry Editor (run: regedit) to return these variables to normal. In my case it was blank for default and http:// for the www variable.

Also as was mentioned previously Ad-aware (which is anti-spyware) at www.lavasoftusa.com could probably have helped too as it can correct registry settings.

I owe randomanswer at least $20 bucks for this. Wish I knew registry info so well. Man, you saved me a lot of time and aggrevation... I installed Spy Sweeper in the hopes it'd take care of this, but it didn't. Spy sweeper did, however, take care of a lot of other stuff I had n my computer so it's highly recommended.

"Spybot Search and Destroy" should get rid of sexyque....it worked for me.....

Had same problem and did a lot (A LOT) of research into the subject on this forum and others.

sadly things like ad aware, spy bot , etc etc dont find sexyque and so don't get rid of it.

Sexyque and a similar thing coolhompage realy get you to the end of your tether... still here is the DEFINITIVE way to get rid of it.

I am not too clever / confident with messing about with my registry. But I do have Norton Utilities. In NU there is a simple registry editor that even I can use.

Open NU registry editor, click on edit - find.
type in sexyque and find it.

about 5 or 6 entries should come up in the box at the bottom. These are the registry locations where sexyque resides.

right click the folder icon and it will ask "go here?"

left click.

now in the box to the top right you should see the evil little git sexyque lurking. it will say something like
"default value http.//www.sexyque.com bla bla bla."

right click on the icon to the left of that line and it will ask "modify?"

left click and delete up to http.// (that is to say just the www.sexyque.com bla bla bla bit)

Repeat on each line that contains www.sexyque ( should only be the two)

and exit.

BYE BYE evil little git sexyque.
