After installing Windows XP Service Pack 1 several months ago, 35 new directories wre added to C:\Windows, for example $NTUninstallQ309521$.
I would like to know if these directories are normal for every installation of SP1. I would like to delete them.
As far as I know, those contain uninstall information for the regular security & update patches / service-packs applied to the system. I myself don't bother with these directories though on my winXP system.

That is what they are... you also get them whenever you apply an update via Windows Update.
If you're not too bothered about disk space, then ignore them... I always make the mistake of hastily deleting windows files
