HELP ME! Folder not accessable access denied

I have a very big problem. I reinstalled my XP, but didn't format my hard drive, because there was an important information. Now when I want to use my old documents, I can't get into my old folder. It just shows that it is not accessable and access denied. I also can't find any security options. Could somebody please help me!!!!!!!

Did you have XP convert your disk to NTFS?

If you did you may have blown some of security away. Go into your control panel -> Administrative Tools ->Computer Management -> Local Users and Groups -> Groups. Open the Adiminstrators groups and make sure your login id is in it. If it isn't add it. If you don't have permissions to add it use any id you can to try and get Adminsitrators rights.

After that then select your C: drive or you can do individual folders and files. (Note: if you are a home system and aren't worried about security then do te whole C: drive. You can always restrict your porno folders from the kids later. ) Right click and go to properties. There should be a tab that says security. Click on that and give "everyone" full access permissions. Propagate to sub-directories. You should then be able to get access to everything.
