Can anyone help with a problem with my PC at my workplace. Trying to install any program results in failure and 'Error 0x80040706 - Description:Object reference not set. Setup will now terminate'. I have found out via http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108322 and http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q110641 that it is a problem with the incorrect version of InstallShield. I have version 6. It asks me to download IkernelUpdate.exe and install this, after deleting folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\engine.
My problem is that the PC does not let me delete this folder. I think that this is because Install Shield is being used at the time. Can anyone help me delete this folder, or perform a fix in the registry. Thanks
