Problems with Paradox W.P. Office 12

I have a licensed copy of Word Perfect Office 12 with Paradox, After installing it on my laptop which is networked to my desktop. If I launch Paradox I get a message "PRIVATE DIRECTORY IS INVALID OR UNDEFINED. USING TEMPORARY DIRECTORY INSTEAD" I click OK and then an error message comes up "COULD NOT INITIALIZE BDE"

Any suggestions? Help will be appreciated. Thanks.

running from the laptop, the desktop, or both?

vista, xp, both, something earlier?

have you set the private directory? have you gone into the BDE Administrator and set the location of the net file? does that location exist?
