Data Stream Management Systems

Hi I've just joined this forum looking for information (yes I do have a paper to write). I'm looking into the area of DSMS and while I've found many papers from researchers backing the need for development of systems to manage streaming data, I've be unable to find any that take the view that current RDBMS's can handle this type of data.

Anyone any suggestions, or pointers?
