Hello all, I am curious to know if anyone has done a trade study on DB2, SQL Server, and Oracle databases (all Enterprise editions). Basically I am trying to identify which one to chose based on "Ease of implementation", Ease of maintenance", "Pricing" and "Ease of technical support". These criterias that I am considering can be obtained by interviewing people who have worked with these products. I appreciate any input I can get. Thanks, Shaun

You can find lots of studies.... the question is, are they bias?

i'm in a similar situation, need to find something non-biased, not written by msft, oracle or mysql.

I seem to recall that MS and/or Oracle had prohibitions as part of their licensing against reviewing the products or publishing benchmark comparisons. That may explain the dearth of good reviews.

But I can tell you that as for ease of use, and probably licensing, SQL Server is far better than Oracle. When estimating an Oracle project I typically double or triple my time estimate for an identical SQL Server project. Admin is more difficult with Oracle as well.

I can't speak to DB2 as I do not have experience with it.
