Database design pitfalls

Hi,

I am very new to the database design. I am designing my first database to a web application using Microsoft SQL server 2000.

I started creating tables following the baisc principles of Normalization. Apart, I am not sure what is required ? Can any one point me to a good book or a website which describes the common erros occur during a database design.

Also, Plz advice me on the process I should follow for designing an effective database system.

Thanks

Here's an introductory tutorial that I wrote for an INet sister-site. The first two installments deal with table design and normalization.
