|
|
I'm working on some school work and need some help. I need to find what the repeating group is in the following releation and i'm drawing a blank.
CLIENT (ClientNumber, ClientName, VeID, VetName, (PetID, PetName, PetType)
Also, how would I convert the unnormalized relation to First Normal Form?
This is killing me please help. I'm such a noob.

Without knowing what each attribute means/stores, we can't help you to normalize it. ClientNumber could be a count of how many clients own one pet, or how many clients it takes to screw in a lightbulb. Without knowing what the attributes mean, it isn't possible to normalize them.
It sounds to me like you are asking us to do your homework for you. I'll give you only one warning, that is a very dangerous thing to do around DBForums... The results can be just plain horrific!
If you can scan your homework assignment, or point us to a web rendition of the assignment, then we can better understand what has been specified and what the goals are. That doesn't mean that it is safe to let us do your assignment for you, but it means that you'll get more meaningful help.
If I were you, I'd take a shot at the assignment and post that effort here for use to critique. If you can't even get started, then you need to ask a TA or the professor for help so that they know that they aren't getting the basic information across to their students (this is news to some teachers, but still something that they need to hear). If you have some better idea, I'm certainly willing to read what you have to write about it!

Vassago,
What have you done so far?
Showing that you have tried something may help you receive a small amount of help.

Oh and showing your teacher your efforts rather than something someone has done for you is always going to be more beneficial for you. If you're tutor doesn't know that you're struggling with part of the syllabus then they'll just move on and you'll still not understand it.
