longevity of Delphi/Pervasive? (was "stupid question from non DB aware IT manager")

I know that I will get a zillion different opinions but I thought this forum would be a good place to start so here it goes...

I have a client evaluating a major move to a CRM that is based on pervasive SQL and Delphi and what I am looking for is informed feedback on the risk of going this route verses a MS CRM product (MS SQL Server) or a Siebel solution which is also based on MS SQL Server.

My chief concern from my limited knowledge of the DB world is what is the longevity of Delphi/Pervasive?

Is this a practical platform to adopt?

Are there performance issues compared to the other platforms/products mentioned above?

Thanks to all.

Gregg
