You've said this a few times. Why PP over other office apps? What is best about PP?

It's big advantage over other Office Apps is that it is installed on my computer.

In truth, I have installed Open Office at home as well. I have to say I LOVE the word processor. It is MUCH better than Word 2007, being similar in format to previous versions of Word and without that godamfracking ribbon bar that has invaded the 2007 Office Suite. I can format complex documents in Open Office Writer in about a third of the time it would take me in Word 2007.
But, the spreadsheet and presentation software in Open Office is, while usable, currently inferior to the features available in Microsoft Office...so I put up with the ribbon for the moment.

Ok - so why PPT over Excel then?

In fact - I'll have a stab at advocating Excel over PPT: in Excel your model can be pretty large. A model on a PPT slide can't be that substantial I would have thunked.

The good thing about PPt is that I believe the objects are vector graphics, meaning your diagram will scale very well.

I don't design databases in Excel for the same reason I don't develop databases in Excel.
That is not what Excel is designed to do.
Excel is not designed to be a tool for creating diagrams.
