i m new to database so..
can i hav id or name as primary key....

i m in a complete automation for registering of the birth and death in a locality..
i hav certain prob, i wil list
1.i m having id as primary key,in tat i hav given evey individual wit an id.ther arise a case tat either father or mother hadnt registered their birth and dont hav id..
2.in case of issuing death certificate for persons who hadnt registered their birth..

1) Couldn't you just create artificial ids for those missing an id ie TEMP000001 etc. Then have some process to assign real ids to those with temporary ids - presumably done by an existing organisation. You'd have to be very careful of people not creating fake ids this way.

2) Same as above or if you're feeling like making your system wildly efficient you could just delete the person from the database altogether
